Birthdays!

I'm really not sure what happened to my blog but all of a sudden all the posts disappeared and it went on lock down. Good thing I journal all of this in hard copy form and print my pictures somewhat regularly. I'm really hoping to start making a family yearbook every december of the happenings of that year. More about that later. On to our two December birthday kids!

I've decided it was terrible to have kids on back to back days. Especially in the same month as Christmas. I just didn't want to buy them anything. Plus they were both perfectly content getting back all their toys that had been in storage for 6 months, In order to not get the bad mom award I did get them each one thing. On Nov 30, Saturday, we had a joint birthday party for Max and his cousin XJ. You see XJ and max were born 36 hours apart. Max on December 3 and XJ December 4. They live in Austin and had come down for Thanksgiving. So we had a quickly planned joint party for the boys. It was a little hectic of a day and for weeks Max had wanted a cookie cake. THEN Remi told him all about the Lorax cake she had for her third birthday. So then he wavered between a cookie cake and Lorax cake. 6 hours prior to party time I made him decide and he couldn't so in the interest of time (We were planning on making an IKEA run before the party that is in Austin so a 4 hour roundtrip including shopping) I told him he could have a cookie cake with a Lorax on it. He thought that was genius so thats what we did. It turned out ok-ish I think...

He was ready to eat the cake!

Ok maybe it looks more like a monster but what can you do? I frosted that Lorax in under 5 minutes as we were running out the door...

Singing to the birthday boys. Max is incredibly shy and when he realized all 15 people were watching him and singing to him it was just too much! I like Remi's face. I guarantee the thought "hey kid eat up the spotlight, you loser I'll take the attention if you don't want it". The party was a success. The boys had a good time.

Brynn turned one the day before Max's birthday. She is stinking cute!! My parents came in from Houston for the weekend to celebrate birthdays. I'm telling you this living close to family is great! Rudd's parents are 10-15 mins away depending on traffic and mine are 2 hours and 20 mins. NOTHING compared to the 23/24 hour drives we used to do. We ended up just hanging out at the house while getting the alarm system installed. I was also super lazy and got her store bought mini cupcakes. She doesn't seem to mind :)

An update on the middle and youngest. We had well baby visits on Max's birthday so I'll start with him. He is in the 81st percentile in weight and 90th percentile in height. He's always been on the large all over side and is staying perfectly in his growth curve. He is freaking cute! He makes these little faces that say a million things. Like seriously his eyebrows move like no ones I've ever seen before. Sometimes when he is in trouble he'll make on goofy face and its over. Luckily he is rarely in trouble. He plays with both sisters so well! He just wants them to be happy. Occasionally Rem will hurt him (physically or emotionally) and he will just be completely broken. Yup he's super sensitive. If I ever tell him ouch when he jumps on me he runs away sobbing. He doesn't like to make people sad, mad or hurt. He talks like an almost 5 year old. Due to his size people often ask if he and Remi are twins. He's just so with it and he loves playing pretend. He also likes to list the order that we're going to do things in that day. Every morning "Mommy! First we're going to change my diaper. Then we're going to eat breakfast. Then we can watch a show. Then I'm going to play kitchen..." and it seriously goes on forever. He is also very matter of fact. If you ask him a question he will give you an answer and he fully believes it. Unlike the "ummmmms" or complete silence we get from Remi these days. He's not quite potty trained. He can go in the potty but is often a little damp. We did have one adventure of errands and he stayed dry the whole time til we got home and he peed on the doorstep as I unlocked the door. Not bad. My mental state is not there to clean pee out of my brand new house so when he gets the mood to go on the potty he rips off his diaper and does just that. Otherwise we change him. The ripping off has happened more and more so I think we'll just ride this wave and see where it takes us. A synopsis of Max would be incomplete if I did not mention that he LOVES ketchup!

Now Brynn. Affectionately known as "Brynnies" around these parts. She is super. She's my first ever short and fat baby. I think it makes her even more adorable. She was my latest walker. She started just before 11 months. Like the others once she started she was a pro and now she zips around like nothing and climbs on EVERYTHING! She keeps trying to scale the bookshelves. Luckily she hasn't passed the second shelf. She loves food. I mean you don't get in the 95th percentile without a love of food. I seriously don't think she's made even a grimace at anything that has been presented. I hope her tastebuds never change! She's a complete drama queen. Like holy cow I thought Remi was bad but NOOOO! You take something away from her and she checks to make sure the floor is clear, lays on her belly, sticks her feet straight out THEN starts screaming and flailing. Can't help but laugh. She's very vocal. Screams if shes happy, mad, sad, wants something. Doesn't really matter she is always screaching! Unless of course she is cutely saying "mama" or "i got it" or "bottle" granted I'm pretty sure our little family is the only one who understands her but she's definitely talking way earlier than my other kiddos. She's got some mad asthma. She started having attacks a few months ago and we got a rescue inhaler at that point. I've had to use it a few times a week ever since. At her well baby I thought she was doing good but the doctor said she could hear wheezing in her chest. So they checked her oxygen and sure enough still super low. So she got a breathing treatment and our pediatrician called a pulmonologist. He suggested putting her on a daily regimen so we wouldn't need the rescue so much. So we're trying that. Its a drug that they both have never seen used on someone under 4 but she also has asthma that they both had never seen on an infant. Yay! or not. This new med is taking awhile to kick in so you can hear brynn coming a mile away and by that I mean you can hear the wheeze coming. If it hasn't made her lungs clear in a few weeks at her check up she'll probably need some testing because this is simply not normal and may be something else causing it. So we're hoping its just asthma :) Though the 95th percentile jump definitely coincided with the use of steroids sooooo she may not appreciate that as she grows in to her teenage years.

These two are best friends. Especially when Remi gets a little to bossy. They've decided one of my empty kitchen cabinets is their home.

House part 1

So we moved in about a week ago and there have been many requests to see the house. First of all we LOVE it! Second of all I have decorating plans, yes including nailing things to the wall. *gasp* So here is the downstairs.
Here's the living room/office from the kitchen. That wall on the left is the pantry and a Harry Potter cupboard under the stairs. We discovered we have way too many bookcases so we put them on each side of our tv stand and added a shelf across the top. I have plans for decorating this. The big hole of blank wall even bothers me! Also, we read too much. These are just our novels minus the one shelf of board games. The church, textbook, kids books and photo albums are on bookcases upstairs 😳😁

Here is our office area. Thank you ikea for a desk that fit perfectly. Swinging around in the big open room takes you to the kitchen and dining.

I LOVE my kitchen. By far my favorite part of the house. My island is massive and there is so much storage I actually have empty cabinets. The kids love having counter stools for helping and eating breakfast, snacks, and lunch! And the color scheme turned out great! I was a little worried matching floor and cabinets and counters just by looking at little 2 inch pieces. I also enjoy looking out the sink window while doing dishes and being able to see the kids playing in the backyard!
